THE CROOKED SLOUGH DUCK CLUB
Pleasant Hill, IL
DUCK HUNTS BY THE DAY
Duck hunts take place in an 80 acre flooded corn field with approximately 40 acres of corn left standing to attract ducks. Last season we held thousands of Mallards from November 1st to December 28th (the end of the season).
The property is privately owned and the duck hunting is overseen by the land owners who put their emphasis on quality hunting.
Hunt highlights:
-
Several thousand Mallards use this property for feeding and safety.
-
Excellent success ratio, not once did we not shoot ducks.
-
Hunt from three roofed, clean, concrete pits large enough to hold four hunters and a caller.
-
Callers i.e. guides available.
-
Trained, obedient dogs welcome.
-
Water is knee high to waist high. Easy access to pits. Safe as well!

Now you can see what the ducks see as they are coming in to the area for the first
time (below). It is no wonder we hold mallards by the thousands, food and a lot of it, open water (we have aerators to keep water open during the coldest weather), and we only shoot four mornings a week up through Thanksgiving week. The Crooked Slough management truly wants to give the ducks a place to go where they can be protected most of the time.
